NICU Family Supports

  • Canadian Premature Baby Foundation

    A parent led, charitable organization providing education, support and advocacy for premature babies and their families. Foundation’s mission is to empower families of premature babies every step of the way, through support and education.

  • Support Group for Graduate NICU Families

    This 6-week, closed therapy group will connect you with others with similar lived experiences. You will learn about common experiences during and after a NICU stay, including Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Trauma and Grief and develop strategies and tools for coping.

  • Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Healthy Babies Healthy Children

    The Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program provides home visiting services to pregnant individuals, and families with children from birth up to their transition to school, who are experiencing risks which may impact healthy child development and parenting, and who may benefit from additional support. For self-referral, pregnant parents and families with children can call Health Connection at 705-721-7520. Monday to Friday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) to speak with a Public Health Nurse

  • Postpartum Support International

    Online Support Groups: led by trained PSI facilitators, our online NICU group is intended for parents of babies who are currently or formerly in the NICU. This peer support group is for those with babies up to two years old who experienced a NICU stay for any reason. Connecting with others who have experienced the uniquely stressful environment of a NICU will provide parents with understanding, as well as helpful tools and resources. Whether your baby is currently in the NICU or you have finally returned home, our NICU parents support group is here for you.

  • Caring for Kids (Canadian Paediatric Society)

    Caring for Kids provides parents with information about their child’s health and well-being. Because the site is developed by the Canadian Paediatric Society — the voice of more than 3,600 Canadian paediatricians—you can be sure the information is reliable.

  • Zero to Three

    Education and resources around child care, child welfare, early development & learning, economic security for parents, infant and early childhood mental health, child physical health and nutrition, racial equity/diversity/inclusion, & trauma.

  • About Kid’s Health (SickKids)

    AboutKidsHealth is a health education resource for children, youth and caregivers that is approved by health-care providers at The Hospital for Sick Children. AboutKidsHealth empowers families to become a partner in their own health care by equipping them with reliable, evidence-based health information. It makes complex health information easy to understand for families, and makes it immediately available whenever and wherever they have questions about child health regardless of where they are in Canada or the world.

  • Life with A Baby

    Life With A Baby facilitates community events each month to connect you with other moms or dads who have children at the same stage of life, as well as offers two types of mental health counseling, group therapy with HOPE groups, and individual counseling.

  • Pregnancy & Infant Loss Network (PAIL)

    Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network is here to help, with free group and individual peer-support services offered to families across Ontario.

    NICU Connections provides you with resources and educational materials to help ease anxiety during this time of mixed joy and uncertainty.
