How to cope with a new baby in summer
Happy First Summer with Your Baby!
Yay! You have a new baby! Summer is here, and this long weekend is a great time to relax and have fun with your little one. Things might feel different than before, but that's okay! Here are some tips for a super summer weekend with your new baby:
Do what you love of course
Do you like mornings? Take a walk with your baby in the sunshine! Do you like evenings? Snuggle outside and look at the stars with your baby. Make a summer plan that works for you and your baby!
Don't worry about what others do…
You might see pictures of families doing all sorts of things online. But remember, everyone's family is different. Focus on what makes you happy, like playing with your baby in the park. Think of the joyful memories that stand out to you from your own childhood and what traditions you want to start, how can these be started for your family now?
Ask for help if it feels like too much.
Taking care of a baby is hard work, on top of adjusting to all the changes, the shifts in routine and not feeling in control of your own time. Don't be afraid to ask your partner, family, or friends for help. Take turns sleeping and give each other breaks.
You're doing great. (Period).
Taking care of a new baby can be tricky. But even small things are big wins! Celebrate all the good times, like your baby sleeping through the night or you getting a warm yummy meal.
This long weekend is a chance to start your summer fun as a new family. Relax, have fun, and cuddle your baby lots!
