Associate Therapist — Perinatal Mental Health & Trauma

About the Role

We're looking for a deeply skilled, values-aligned therapist to join MARSHA Care Inc. as an independent contractor associate. You may know us as Amber Sperling Social Work and Psychotherapy Services — we're in the process of growing into MARSHA Care Inc., a specialized perinatal mental health practice based in Barrie, Ontario. This isn't a general therapy role — we serve a specific and meaningful population: pregnant and postpartum women, mothers navigating trauma, pregnancy and infant loss, and the full spectrum of perinatal mental health challenges.

You'll step into an established practice with a warm referral network, and the clinical autonomy to do your best work. If you're someone who lights up when talking about perinatal mental health, thinks about EMDR on the way home, and wants to specialize deeply rather than broadly — this is your place.

What You'll Do

  • Carry a caseload of individual clients in the perinatal space (pregnancy, postpartum, fertility, loss, birth trauma)

  • Provide trauma-focused therapy using EMDR and other evidence-based modalities

  • Work both in-person and virtually, with flexibility to shape your schedule

  • Collaborate within a small, supportive team of aligned clinicians

  • Contribute to a practice culture built on clinical excellence and genuine care

Who You Are

Required:

  • Registered Social Worker (RSW) in good standing with the OCSWSSW

  • Demonstrated experience working with perinatal populations

  • Training in EMDR (minimum Part 1 & 2; active consultation/certification preferred)

  • Comfortable holding complex, high-acuity perinatal cases with appropriate supervision and consultation

Strongly preferred:

  • PMH-C certification (Perinatal Mental Health Certified) or other training in supporting clients through pregnancy, postpartum, fertility, pregnancy and infant loss etc

  • Experience with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), birth trauma, pregnancy/infant loss

  • Established or developing referral relationships in the maternal health space

The Arrangement

  • Associate / independent contractor — fee split model

  • Hybrid: in-person in Barrie (with potential office space in Orillia) and virtual sessions

  • Flexible scheduling — you build a caseload that works for your life

  • Access to an established referral pipeline from day one

  • Warm handoff of existing clients from the clinic director

Fee split percentage and logistics discussed with qualified candidates.
